There is a lot of campaign smearing going on. Below are the top scripted attacks v. FAQs .
The idea of "spoilers" is undemocratic because it assumes that one candidate is entitled to your vote. Candidates don't own your vote, they have to earn your vote. Voters want and deserve choices, and without freedom of choice, there is no democracy.
Jill criticized the notion that "offering people more choices" could spoil an election. "It's anti-democratic," she said in a Newsweek interview
In 2016, Jill garnered the support of nearly 1.5 million voters across the country, making it clear the people want options and change.
The vote difference between Trump and Clinton in Pennsylvania was just 44,292, which is too close to Jill Stein’s 49,960 votes to believe Clinton could have flipped the state by winning 88.7% of them.
The idea that Stein’s votes in Pennsylvania were mainly due to Russian interference doesn’t hold up, especially since she had already won 21,341 votes there in 2012.
As for Wisconsin, Clinton lost by 22,748 votes, and it’s hard to believe Russian support for Stein made a difference. Stein had 7,665 votes in Wisconsin in 2012, and given her improved campaign and name recognition in 2016, she probably picked up the extra 659 votes needed to disprove the theory that she tipped the state.
In fact, Stein got at least one percent of the vote in five states in 2016 where she wasn’t even on the ballot in 2012:
- Vermont: 2.14%
- Kansas: 1.98%
- Montana: 1.61%
- Connecticut: 1.39%
- Nebraska: 1.04%
If we’re looking for why Clinton lost Wisconsin, it’s more likely due to her campaign’s missteps. Clinton didn’t visit the state at all after the DNC, while Trump made six stops there.
Jill Stein publicly announced she was going at her own expense to a media conference in Russia where she criticized Putin’s excessive militarism. She was investigated by the Senate Intel Committee, which found she did nothing wrong.
Jill Stein never advocated support for Assad in Syria. A former staffer posted a statement on her website without Dr. Stein or anyone else on her team seeing or approving it, which didn't accurately reflect her position of calling for a weapons embargo, ceasefire and peace talks.
Platform position: Remove U.S. troops from Iraq and Syria

Ballot access laws designed by Democrats and Republicans mean the Green Party must run for President and other top-of-ballot offices or lose ballot lines and party status in many states, which would effectively end its ability to run candidates at all.
